This album opens with the first track 'Some Nights Intro' which is a spoken word song? that kicks ass and sets the tone for the whole album, it's raw and sounds so refreshing. Then they launch into the second song 'Some Nights' which is such an incredible song and my favourite on the whole album, it's soaring vocals, military band drums and well constructed lyrics sets the tone for the whole album.
We then move onto 'We Are Young' (feat. Janelle Monáe), this song was a mega hit for them and when I first heard it I wasn't sure if it was a girl or a guy singing it, such is the voice of lead singer Nate Russ, it is a very catchy song and one that I actually enjoy singing along to. 'Carry On' is the next song and it is one awesome fucking song that builds and builds to a crescendo of sound that you just don't see coming until it smacks you upside the head.
The next track is 'It Gets Better' is another standout that I really liked. 'Why Am I The One' and 'All Alone' are really catchy songs. 'All Alright' and 'One Foot' are once again stellar songs that this album is riddled with. The last song 'Stars' starts out as an alternative track (whatever) but halfway through it morphs into this R&B monster that I just love. All up this is one hell of an album that seems to work from start to finish, they songs go so well together that the whole album is just so original sounding and so refreshing in this day and age of manufactured pop drivel that seems to infect the airwaves and people's ears like botfly.
All up i am giving this album 4 and a half shots of whiskey no get off you fat lazy ass and go and get this album NOW!
Till next week peace out my bitches
